Minnesota Gneiss
Who We Are
We are Minnesota Gneiss.
A team made of Emma and Paige; two young women with a big goal, strong shoulders, and competitive spirits. This summer, we became the first all-female team to compete The Yukon 1000, the world's longest canoe and kayak race.
BEFORE THE RACE
Preparing for a race of this magnitude is a long process. This started back in 2014 with Emma's first attempt down the river. It was at one fateful breakfast after that race, that Mama Burgeson suggested the team of Paige and Emma. Planning began in November, a 36-hour road trip to the starting line, and then the race was off!
THE BIG RACE
The Yukon 1000. The longest canoe race in the world, traveling from Whitehorse to the Alaska Pipeline. In 2016, seven teams came from all over the globe to race down the river.
